d’Ans Viewpoints

Get acquainted with Viewpoints; a playful and physical improvisation technique based on interaction, ensemble training and composition.

 

By practicing Viewpoints you become very alert about what is happening around you. This awareness is trained by doing simple tasks and by examining your own and each other’s movements. The focus is always on working together in a group. How can the individual be placed in or next to it? The interaction with other players can create a complex and surprising choreography. The experiment starts with your imagination. We try to break down stereotypes by seeking different sources of inspiration. A subtle touch for example, or a playful encounter may be the beginning of a risky and energetic ensemble.

KAROLIEN VERLINDEN (Leuven, 1981) studied dance and choreography at Codarts Dance Academy Rotterdam. Since then she works as a choreographer, teacher and dancer in Belgium and the Netherlands. She performed in several productions of Meekers, Keskiespace, Max Theatre and Sermon. Together with Wannes Deneer and Jef Van Gestel she forms the collective Tuning People (www.tuningpeople.be). Karolien Verlinden has trained with members of the SITI Company and the ViewpointLAB after which she specialised as a teacher in improvisation technique and the Viewpoints method. She teaches at the theater academy in Maastricht Dé Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp.
